In the latest issue of the trade magazine Logistyka (Issue 3 2019), an interview with Janusz Gocałek, the President of the Management Board of Talex S.A., entitled “Revolution of the Internet” was published. The issue is entirely devoted to matters related to the concept of Logistics 4.0.

Logistics 4.0 is a term referring to contemporary, modern logistics, which was based on the idea of Industry 4.0 – the concept of the fourth industrial revolution, presented for the first time in 2011 at the IAA fair in Hannover. It is a consequence of the broadly understood digitalization of almost all areas of our lives. Industry 4.0 aims to integrate people and digitally controlled machines with the Internet and information technologies.

In Logistics 4.0, apart from the practical application of artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), blockchain transactions, or drones in the logistics of the “last mile”, large data collections (Big Data) and the possibility of their collection and processing in the cloud (cloud computing) come to the fore. The Internet of Things (IoT) and machine learning are becoming increasingly important.

New business models are also being developed in the 4.0 world. The challenge for entrepreneurs is to see these models and implement them at the right time in order to make the most of them economically.

Everything points to the fact that Industry 4.0 is a further, inevitable step in the economy. Only companies skillfully using new technologies will gain competitive advantage and secure their future in business.

An interview with the CEO of Talex S.A. brings us closer to the vision of the world 4.0, its inevitability and the many uncertainties it brings with it. (“Revolution of the Internet, Logistyka (Issue 3 2019)
